I personally want to welcome you to the 95th annual World Famous Williams Lake Stampede.  2022 was a year for the record books after two long years being sidelined. Williams Lake rolls out the red carpet on July long weekend with entertainment for anyone such as stock car races, the parade and downtown street party. Whether you are joining us for a day or the whole weekend you will find something to do.

We will be running 4 days this year June 29th to July 2nd.  Thursday June 29th evening performance will be a Bull Riders Canada sanctioned Bull Riding performance along with the exciting first heat of local events – Wild Horse Race, Mountain Race and Wild Cowgirl Race.  Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be action packed with competitors from the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association chasing the prize money and buckles in the seven major rodeo events (Bareback, Saddle Bronc, Bull Riding, Tie Down Toping, Team Roping, Ladies Barrel Racing).  Once again we will be offering minor events; Novice Saddle Bronc, Junior Steer Riding and Ladies Breakaway Roping.  Sunday will be the finals for the local events.

Don’t miss out on the vast shopping options of the Bronc Buster Trade Show and our afternoon and nightly entertainment in the Let R Buck Saloon featuring a few of our local bands.

We have always had tremendous support from the Williams Lake community in the form of sponsorship and volunteers and 2022 showed us that nothing can knock us down.  We saw record crowds each and every day, I have never seen the stands so full.  The air was electric with excitement and anticipation.

We introduced an ‘Every Child Matters’ day to our event and encouraged all to wear orange in support.  With the many indigenous groups surrounding and included in our community as well as our facility housed on the traditional and unceded territory of the Williams Lake First Nation of the Secwempc Nation, we felt a desire to recognize the inclusion of the indigenous that have been apart of our very long history.

This year once again the Williams Lake Stampede Directors are ramping up to make this family friendly 4 day event as action packed as we have done in years before.  To all the amazing volunteers that have taken the time away from your families and jobs to help out, I thank you for all the work you do in front and behind the scenes; our event truly would not be the success it is without you.

Thanks,

Court Smith

March 10, 2022

COVID 19 .. be damned!! It has been two years that the World Famous Williams Lake Stampede has had to “turn out” due to Provincial health restrictions. With fingers crossed we are currently planning the 2022 Stampede – hoping that health restrictions continue to be decreased and large public gatherings will become “normal” again.

The 2022 Williams Lake Stampede will be held Thursday June 30th, July 1st, July 2nd and 3rd. The first three performances will see the best competitors from the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Woman’s Professional Rodeo Association chasing the prize money in the seven major rodeo events (Baraback, Saddle Bronc, Bull Riding, Tie Down Roping, Team Roping and Ladies Barrel Race). As well there will be the minor events - Novice Saddle Bronc and Junior Steer Riding, and new this year we have added a second ladies event – Breakaway Roping.

The board of directors are working hard on bringing the many additional features to the Stampede weekend – including the Bronc Buster Trade Fair, our unique “branded” merchandize and of course the always popular Let’r Buck Saloon.

We are looking forward to engaging with our valued sponsors and volunteers who are such a huge part of the success of the Williams Lake Stampede. If you are interested in being involved as a sponsor or volunteer please do not hesitate to contact our general manager at info@williamslakestampede.com.

We are working hard to make this a weekend to remember!

Thanks,

Court

The Williams Lake Stampede Association board of directors are proud to announce the receipt of a fairs, festivals and events recovery grant from the government of bc!

‘We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia.’

We are pleased to announce that a BC Fairs, Festivals, and Events Recovery Fund grant has been approved in the amount of $187,020 for the 94th Annual Williams Lake Stampede.

Our President Court Smith says when speaking with the Williams Lake Tribune:

“The famous Williams Lake Stampede is a major event that has a significant impact on the local economy,” said Williams Lake Stampede Association president Court Smith upon hearing of the grant.

For two years in a row the Stampede was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Smith said visitors are local, regional, provincial and even international, which makes the Stampede a unique one-of-a-kind event.

“The board of directors of the Williams Lake Stampede Association are thrilled to receive a Festivals, Fairs and Events Recovery grant. This financial boost will assist us in remaining to be a viable organization and fulfil our commitment to the community of Williams Lake,” Smith noted.
