ANIMAL WELFARE STATEMENT FROM THE WILLIAMS LAKE STAMPEDE ASSOCIATION

The Williams Lake Stampede Association (WLSA) produces and manages the annual Williams Lake Stampede in the City of Williams Lake. This volunteer driven event celebrates western tradition and country heritage of the Cariboo / Chilcotin region and has grown to one of the largest community events outside of the lower mainland.

The WLSA is a strong proponent of animal welfare, we believe that the animal human bond in society is important and that humans are responsible for the support and use of animals for food, fibre, service, companionship, exhibition and entertainment. Along with this bond comes the true responsibility to provide humane care and proper treatment for all animals.

You can find information and a position statement from the CPRA on their website here.  You can find additional information and livestock survey results from the PRCA on their website here.

ANIMAL ATHLETE TOUR at THE STAMPEDE

One of our hidden gems of Stampede weekend would, undoubtedly be, our Animal Athlete Tour.  Have you ever wanted to get up close and personal with the real stars of the Williams Lake Stampede? Hosted by our official Stock Contractor, Roy Call of C+ Rodeos, the tour outlines the priorities, goals, and methods of caring for our four-legged athletes that compete in our Rodeo.

The Animal Athlete Tour is incredibly informational and free! Please join us down in the Infield area near the stock pens on Saturday and Sunday during Stampede weekend at 9:00 AM to participate!
